How this is calculated, and where the incumbent numbers come from

Contrayo's cost is exact — it's just seats × the published per-user rate for whichever plan applies (see Pricing). The incumbent side can't be exact, because none of the major CLM vendors publish real rate cards; every figure below is either a vendor-published number from a channel that did require one (a government procurement framework, a marketplace listing, a self-serve web store) or a labeled third-party estimate. The $50–$150 per user per month range this calculator uses is a conservative blend of those figures, with a $15,000/year floor — matching Ironclad's own stated minimum annual contract — so a very small team isn't shown an unrealistically tiny incumbent price no vendor would actually offer.

None of these figures are Contrayo's own claims about what a competitor charges a specific customer — they're published rates, marketplace listings, or independently reported transaction data, cited individually above.

Why most CLM pricing calculators don't exist

Every major CLM incumbent gates its real pricing behind a sales call — most don't publish a single dollar figure anywhere on their site (see our own Pricing page for how Contrayo's works instead). That's also why, of the largest competitor sites reviewed while building this page, none of them shipped a working ROI calculator of their own — there's no rate card behind theirs to compute one from. Contrayo's own pricing is real and published, so this page runs the actual math rather than asking for an email address first.

The incumbent side of the comparison can't be a precise quote — nobody outside those companies' own sales teams has that — so it's built from the most concrete published figures available: government procurement rate cards, marketplace listings, self-serve pricing pages, and independently reported transaction data. Every source is named in the calculator's own "How this is calculated" panel above, not asserted without a citation.
